Lighten up, Teacha Christin!
“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”- Psalm 138:8 Wow. I don’t even know how to sum up the past few days. There are literally no words to describe the absolute peace that I feel and the sense of purpose that has completely overwhelmed me. Don’t tell me God doesn’t answer prayer, because my life is most certainly a living testimony to that. So, to all of you who are continually throwin̵...

Close your eyes.
It’s pretty unreal how you can read a Bible verse over and over again, and then one day it just clicks. The light bulb illuminates, and all of a sudden it’s as if you see that verse in an entirely new light. What once seemed like mere words on a page, suddenly seems perfectly applicable and appropriate for whatever situation you find yourself in at that very moment. This happened to me the other night, so I have to share it with you. I had just Skyped my parents, and I was in a great...

Wherever you are, be there.
My amazing big sister, Kyrie Barr, once told me this quote. “Wherever you are, be there.” Just think about that for a moment. Where are you right now? …at home? …at work? Where is your mind right now? …going over plans? …checking off your to-do list? Where is your heart right now? …thinking about some ol’ boy or girl? …worrying about everything in life? Life gets crazy sometimes. We get distracted by a world of different things. We lose our...

A Divine Conspiracy.
Church was unreal today. It never ceases to amazing me just how perfect God’s timing is, even down to what the title of a sermon is — today, it was entitled Happiness. AKA: “This one’s for you, Christin. Love, God.” To start it off, we watched a clip from “UP.” (Random, I know.) It was the sequence of events in the lives of Carl (the old guy) and his wife as they got married and grew old together. I’ve decided that it is most certainly the most dep...

Free Indeed.
Freedom…The word itself has such different meanings for different people. For me, it’s that extended sigh after a long day of teaching; it’s those inevitable goosebumps after hearing the National Anthem at a summer baseball game; it’s the tears in my eyes as I sing Amazing Grace and I’m especially moved; it’s the welcomed sense of renewal I get when I realize that I’ve moved on from one thing to something even better; it’s the laughter that follows...

Real People.
My heart is breaking for the Thai people right now. Over 300 businesses and shops in Bangkok have been looted and destroyed over the past two days, and the nation as a whole is literally going through hell right now. Because of fires, Central World, CenterOne, Siam Theater, and Big C at Rajdamri were all damaged to the point where they will most likely have to be demolished. I got my tattoo at Big C back in January…I’ve been to these places. I spent most of my time hanging out in the...

“God Of This City”
I have so much to say today, but if I wrote an entire blog about what’s on my mind, it would just be me going on and on about my own cares and concerns. I know Bangkok is in the midst of chaos and violence right now, but God is still God. Prateep drove Alyse, Emily, and I to the bus station this afternoon because we were planning on getting a bus to Koh Samet to get out of the city, but it ended up being too late. As we were driving back into the city, I popped in my iPod and listened to C...

Subtle glow.
So that picture up there is the view of this area of the city from my room at BCC by the way…be jealous. Ok, so tonight is evidently the big night for the government to crack down on the Red Shirt protesters. All of the power and water is supposed to be cut off in their campground area at midnight, and I’m not really sure if that includes BCC or not. Hopefully not because there’s no way I’ll survive w/o any AC in this building. Last night I could hear some sort of gunsho...
