Posted on Sunday, June 26 th, 2011 at 7:15 pm by Christin WalkerUpdate: Back to life, back to reality.
It seems as though life has been a whirlwind since I’ve set foot back in the ol’ US of A. I had a pretty bad case of reverse culture shock upon my return, and caught myself crying for about 2 weeks straight for no reason at all. I also found myself slipping in to the grandma routine of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and then finishing out each night with a good dose of NBA playoff games until 1 a.m. The disillusionment of my homecoming was hard to come to terms with…I ...

Lately I’ve just been really searching for peace. I don’t know where it went, when I “lost” it, or why it’s “gone,” but I do know that it has everything to do with my lack of focus. Oh, and the fact that once again…I’ve found comfort and normality, and it’s time to say my goodbyes and move on to the next uncomfortable place. But hey, that’s life for you…it’s just a never-ending process of change and adaptation to chang...

Bangkok Slums
I went with my friend, Dwight Turner, to a slum to experience his slum-teaching organization, In Search of Sanuk. I mainly just ended up taking photos the whole time and keeping the children off the train tracks whenever it would come rolling through. I believe taking pictures is what I’m called to do sometimes so that I can allow you to see what I see. I want to make those of you back home aware of just how blessed we truly are, and how much this world needs the love of Christ. bw_...

Dark & Twisty
I find myself falling, tumbling, crashing and breaking into a million pieces…each of which is pulled in sundry directions. Bittersweet is the only word that forms on the tip of my tongue, hardly adequate to describe the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Inevitable. The moment you become comfortable, it’s time to change again. Life is never static, always dynamically fluid. Tears threaten daily as I sit at my desk feeling alone, but surrounded by people I’ve grown fond of o...

Storytime with Cwalk (Part 2)
I will start out this blog by listing the reasons that my mother utilizes Facebook. To post incredibly long status updates that she copies out of the daily prayer quote book thing that sits by the toilet in her bathroom. To post pictures of the dog and publicly declare her birthday while posting a profile picture of the poor dog in full birthday garb with the most miserable look on her face. I mean, I know you miss me…but really? To record and post videos of her dancing with the dog to C...

Home is where the heart is…
Well, the much-anticipated airport “movie scene” was kinda ruined thanks to me missing my flight from Atlanta to Asheville (‘preciate that one Delta…BONK). So, instead of arriving in Asheville at 6pm, I got there at midnight, and Eric found me waiting on a curbside bench beside my luggage being emo. (Surprise, surprise.) So maybe all that didn’t end up the way we imagined, but that first real life (post-Thailand) hug and kiss will forever be a favorite memory. Gah, ...

Beauty.
beau-ty [n.] – the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations, a meaningful design or pattern, or something else. What is beauty? What makes something beautiful? Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? What does that even mean??? Why do people put so much emphasis on beauty anyway? Am I beautiful? To me, beauty is a sunset behind the Bangkok cityscape that looks like God Himself painted...

BCC – Dance it out.
Hey guys…So here are some videos that I took from the Bangkok Christian College Anniversary Celebration. It was kind of a huge deal, and each department contributed to a school program to show off to the parents, teachers, School Board, alumni, and the rest of the thousands of people who showed up to celebrate a few Saturdays ago. Of course, my babies did a dance to a Michael Jackson medley because the EIP (English Immersion Program) is obviously the best, and I teach the coolest kids at B...

Thank God it’s a 4-day holiday. Happy Birthday to the Queen of Thailand…thank you for being born so I can get a couple days off of work. You know, I can admit that my students are slowly convincing me to fall in love with them, but I needed a break. Mid-term progress reports just about killed me! I for sure had to write about all 120 of my students and figure out grades and blah blah blah. Honestly, I’d much prefer to be the student TAKING the mid-terms than the teacher GRADING...

Counting Down.
I’ve always been the Queen of Advice. (I’m also the Queen of Modesty if you haven’t noticed, too. Haha.) I’m just saying…I pride myself in what I have so eloquently dubbed “Blackhole time” with my best friends. That’s when whatever is said under the title of “Blackhole time” remains between whoever is there…it’s like a buffet of drama, issues, and verbal vomit with a side of no judgment or gossiping and amazing advice for de...
