    ‘Ello, London!

Well, in light of all the earthquakes, tsunamis, and radiation in Asia…I decided to skip the Tour de Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam) and hit up Europe for 2 weeks and head home. I’m not gonna lie, my heart was torn because I didn’t want to give up my volcano climbing and scuba diving, but out of respect for my parents, my boyfriend, and my future I didn’t want to risk any exposure to radiation from everything going on in Japan right now. (Drama queen right? haha.)...

    Chiang Rai Escape

Lately I’ve just been really searching for peace. I don’t know where it went, when I “lost” it, or why it’s “gone,” but I do know that it has everything to do with my lack of focus. Oh, and the fact that once again…I’ve found comfort and normality, and it’s time to say my goodbyes and move on to the next uncomfortable place. But hey, that’s life for you…it’s just a never-ending process of change and adaptation to chang...

  • Christmas in BKK

Luke 2:14 – Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace good will towards men. This year, I avoided listening to songs with lyrics like, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” or “I’ll be home for Christmas” or even “Rockin’ around the Christmas tree” because not only did I spend my Christmas away from home, I spent it in 90 degree weather with nothing close to a speck of white snow and a pathetic purple Christmas tree that makes Charl...

  • Left My Heart in Cambodia

There are no words to describe Cambodia. Writing about it seems almost futile because I find it near impossible to articulate exactly how amazing my trip was. It’s absolutely tragic that I could only stay for 3 days because in all honestly, I would leave Bangkok in a hot second to live and work in Siem Reap. Everything about the small town life is alluring to me after living in a big city. Even something as simple as seeing the stars at night gets lost in smoggy mire of the city life, and ...

  • Storytime with Cwalk (Part 2)

I will start out this blog by listing the reasons that my mother utilizes Facebook. To post incredibly long status updates that she copies out of the daily prayer quote book thing that sits by the toilet in her bathroom. To post pictures of the dog and publicly declare her birthday while posting a profile picture of the poor dog in full birthday garb with the most miserable look on her face. I mean, I know you miss me…but really? To record and post videos of her dancing with the dog to C...

  • Home is where the heart is…

Well, the much-anticipated airport “movie scene” was kinda ruined thanks to me missing my flight from Atlanta to Asheville (‘preciate that one Delta…BONK). So, instead of arriving in Asheville at 6pm, I got there at midnight, and Eric found me waiting on a curbside bench beside my luggage being emo. (Surprise, surprise.) So maybe all that didn’t end up the way we imagined, but that first real life (post-Thailand) hug and kiss will forever be a favorite memory. Gah, ...

    BKK Holiday.

Thank God it’s a 4-day holiday. Happy Birthday to the Queen of Thailand…thank you for being born so I can get a couple days off of work. You know, I can admit that my students are slowly convincing me to fall in love with them, but I needed a break. Mid-term progress reports just about killed me! I for sure had to write about all 120 of my students and figure out grades and blah blah blah. Honestly, I’d much prefer to be the student TAKING the mid-terms than the teacher GRADING...

  • Oh, silly me for thinking…This is Thailand.

Well, here I am at the great CoffeeWorld 24/7 coffee shop. It’s almost progress report time, and I have a mile-high stack of papers to grade, so obviously I would opt to blog first. I mean, duh. That makes perfect sense right? So clearly I’m acclimating to Thai culture quite nicely…allow me to elaborate… Ok, rule #1 about Thailand – If it make sense and reason is involved in any way…it probably won’t work out that way. In fact, the exact opposite of reas...

  • These are a few of my favourite things…

Once upon a time, I asked my dear friend and roommate Taylor Mobley a profound question…”So, how do you know if you’re bipolar?” She proceeded to tweet about it and laugh hysterically until she realized I was serious…then she just laughed some more. But really, people. I feel like I’m so up and down it’s insane. You know the phrase, “Life is like a rollercoaster,” right? Well…I bring new meaning to that one. It’s like I play emoti...

  • Sweat. Sand. Bugs.

I physically felt my homesickness today. Like, my heart literally hurts and I feel like I’m going to throw up. That’s crap, because I want to enjoy my time here, but I just can’t shake these homesick blues. The US Embassy in Bangkok had an online meeting today for American citizens living in the area. (It was unsafe to have the meeting in the city like originally planned.) The whole thing was pointless, though. In a nutshell, they basically said, “Leave if you want, stay...
