    Hot Topic: Grandma Swag

Ok, maybe it’s just me, but I’ve been noticing a serious increase in the number of geriatrics showing off their dancing skills on the Internet. Therefore, I felt it was my duty to compile a few of the best ones and post them for your enjoyment. I can only hope to be a grandma with this much swag in 50 years. Props ladies…keep kickin it OLD school.  ENJOY… …and dance to Usher with Aunt Carol (as seen on Ellen). …or throw your hands in the ayer.…or Pop, L...

Update: Back to life, back to reality.

It seems as though life has been a whirlwind since I’ve set foot back in the ol’ US of A. I had a pretty bad case of reverse culture shock upon my return, and caught myself crying for about 2 weeks straight for no reason at all. I also found myself slipping in to the grandma routine of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and then finishing out each night with a good dose of NBA playoff games until 1 a.m. The disillusionment of my homecoming was hard to come to terms with…I ...

    Bonjour, Paris!

My first impression of France was tragically flawed. It’s a sad story that begins with the fact that I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt while carrying around 100lbs worth of luggage in a land where fashion is god and English signs are nowhere to be found. Hello Paris. Of course it also didn’t help that my internal GPS had a serious malfunction and I ended up completely ruining my Notre Dame rendezvous with Alyssa; that left me in frustrated tears. I found myself siting at a cute li...

    London, England

Well, the hostel life is interesting. I keep most of my stuff in a locker, and that makes me feel safer. But I sleep with my wallet as if it were a stuffed animal…I mean, if I lost that thing it would be bad news bears for sure. Credit cards, cash, and my passport are the essential things in my life as a travler, so I have to protect those things with my life. I’m met some pretty cool people along the way so far though. There are a couple of Spanish girls who stay in my room, and I&...

    “England in One Day” Tour

Today was UNREAL. I went on a tour of England and I had the opportunity to see Stonehenge, Bath, Cotswolds, and Stratford on Avon. Stonehenge Stonehenge was surreal to me. It’s just one of those things that you either “get it” or you don’t…and I got it. Stonehenge is actually about 5,000 years old, and that’s so easy to say right? But think about it. Jesus walked the Earth approximately 2,000 years ago, so 3,000 years before that, Stonehenge was built. Just t...

    ‘Ello, London!

Well, in light of all the earthquakes, tsunamis, and radiation in Asia…I decided to skip the Tour de Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam) and hit up Europe for 2 weeks and head home. I’m not gonna lie, my heart was torn because I didn’t want to give up my volcano climbing and scuba diving, but out of respect for my parents, my boyfriend, and my future I didn’t want to risk any exposure to radiation from everything going on in Japan right now. (Drama queen right? haha.)...

    Bangkok’s Fertility Shrine

Ok…you’re not allowed to think I’m crude, rude, or otherwise perverted in light of this post. It’s too funny NOT to share! So, after living in Thailand a year, I’ve exhausted every possible market, I’ve ridden elephants, I’ve played with tigers, I’ve observed prostitution in the red light districts, I’ve visited temples with Emerald Buddhas, Golden Buddhas, Reclining Buddhas, hidden fetuses, ex-criminal monks, and every other possible Thai tr...

    Chiang Rai Escape

Lately I’ve just been really searching for peace. I don’t know where it went, when I “lost” it, or why it’s “gone,” but I do know that it has everything to do with my lack of focus. Oh, and the fact that once again…I’ve found comfort and normality, and it’s time to say my goodbyes and move on to the next uncomfortable place. But hey, that’s life for you…it’s just a never-ending process of change and adaptation to chang...

  • Just Monkey’n Around!

Lopburi, Thailand~ Well, I’ve been hearing about this “Monkey Temple” lately, so Joey, Jessica and I decided to run take a look last Sunday. Oh, P.S. my girl Jessica Baker is in Bangkok right now student teaching at BCC! (happy dance) It’s so nice to just have a small little bit of home all the way over here…Thank God for that girl! So anyway, we all woke up at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday and took a minibus to Lopburi, a small city about 2 hours outside of Bangkok. I ...

  • Christmas in BKK

Luke 2:14 – Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace good will towards men. This year, I avoided listening to songs with lyrics like, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” or “I’ll be home for Christmas” or even “Rockin’ around the Christmas tree” because not only did I spend my Christmas away from home, I spent it in 90 degree weather with nothing close to a speck of white snow and a pathetic purple Christmas tree that makes Charl...
