Posted on Sunday, June 26 th, 2011 at 7:15 pm by Christin WalkerUpdate: Back to life, back to reality.
It seems as though life has been a whirlwind since I’ve set foot back in the ol’ US of A. I had a pretty bad case of reverse culture shock upon my return, and caught myself crying for about 2 weeks straight for no reason at all. I also found myself slipping in to the grandma routine of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and then finishing out each night with a good dose of NBA playoff games until 1 a.m. The disillusionment of my homecoming was hard to come to terms with…I ...

Posted on Friday, March 25 th, 2011 at 1:29 pm by Christin WalkerBonjour, Paris!
My first impression of France was tragically flawed. It’s a sad story that begins with the fact that I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt while carrying around 100lbs worth of luggage in a land where fashion is god and English signs are nowhere to be found. Hello Paris. Of course it also didn’t help that my internal GPS had a serious malfunction and I ended up completely ruining my Notre Dame rendezvous with Alyssa; that left me in frustrated tears. I found myself siting at a cute li...

Lately I’ve just been really searching for peace. I don’t know where it went, when I “lost” it, or why it’s “gone,” but I do know that it has everything to do with my lack of focus. Oh, and the fact that once again…I’ve found comfort and normality, and it’s time to say my goodbyes and move on to the next uncomfortable place. But hey, that’s life for you…it’s just a never-ending process of change and adaptation to chang...

Just Monkey’n Around!
Lopburi, Thailand~ Well, I’ve been hearing about this “Monkey Temple” lately, so Joey, Jessica and I decided to run take a look last Sunday. Oh, P.S. my girl Jessica Baker is in Bangkok right now student teaching at BCC! (happy dance) It’s so nice to just have a small little bit of home all the way over here…Thank God for that girl! So anyway, we all woke up at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday and took a minibus to Lopburi, a small city about 2 hours outside of Bangkok. I ...

Jehovah Jireh
Wow. Really, as soon as I typed the words “Jehovah Jireh” as the title of this blog, my eyes welled up with tears. I can’t really tell if they’re happy tears or sad tears though. Much like my life, I feel like my emotions are just one big jumbled mess, and I can’t even find the words to describe how I feel. The idea of God being my provider absolutely blows my mind. These tears right now are coming straight from my heart, but I can’t tell whether they are tear...

Storytime with Cwalk (Part 2)
I will start out this blog by listing the reasons that my mother utilizes Facebook. To post incredibly long status updates that she copies out of the daily prayer quote book thing that sits by the toilet in her bathroom. To post pictures of the dog and publicly declare her birthday while posting a profile picture of the poor dog in full birthday garb with the most miserable look on her face. I mean, I know you miss me…but really? To record and post videos of her dancing with the dog to C...

Home is where the heart is…
Well, the much-anticipated airport “movie scene” was kinda ruined thanks to me missing my flight from Atlanta to Asheville (‘preciate that one Delta…BONK). So, instead of arriving in Asheville at 6pm, I got there at midnight, and Eric found me waiting on a curbside bench beside my luggage being emo. (Surprise, surprise.) So maybe all that didn’t end up the way we imagined, but that first real life (post-Thailand) hug and kiss will forever be a favorite memory. Gah, ...

Thank God it’s a 4-day holiday. Happy Birthday to the Queen of Thailand…thank you for being born so I can get a couple days off of work. You know, I can admit that my students are slowly convincing me to fall in love with them, but I needed a break. Mid-term progress reports just about killed me! I for sure had to write about all 120 of my students and figure out grades and blah blah blah. Honestly, I’d much prefer to be the student TAKING the mid-terms than the teacher GRADING...

Welcome to the Real World.
Well…this month, the real world is officially smacking me in the face. Hello real world, I hate you. I went from livin’ that good life to being straight up BROKE in about 2 hours flat. I got my July paycheck on July 28, which happens to be the exact same day that I had to buy my plane ticket home for October. Sure, that was a pretty big blessing that those days aligned, or I wouldn’t have been able to come home, buuuuut I pretty much dropped my entire paycheck on that ticket be...
