    Bangkok’s Fertility Shrine

Ok…you’re not allowed to think I’m crude, rude, or otherwise perverted in light of this post. It’s too funny NOT to share! So, after living in Thailand a year, I’ve exhausted every possible market, I’ve ridden elephants, I’ve played with tigers, I’ve observed prostitution in the red light districts, I’ve visited temples with Emerald Buddhas, Golden Buddhas, Reclining Buddhas, hidden fetuses, ex-criminal monks, and every other possible Thai tr...

    Bangkok Slums

I went with my friend, Dwight Turner, to a slum to experience his slum-teaching organization, In Search of Sanuk. I mainly just ended up taking photos the whole time and keeping the children off the train tracks whenever it would come rolling through. I believe taking pictures is what I’m called to do sometimes so that I can allow you to see what I see. I want to make those of you back home aware of just how blessed we truly are, and how much this world needs the love of Christ. bw_...

  • Bye Bye Buddha…

Background information: I have been sick since last summer. It’s been a constant battle between my stomach and the food I eat. I’ve had dengue fever (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengue_fever) thanks to a mosquito. I’ve stepped on rusty nails and had to get tetanus shots. I’ve had headaches. It’s always something… A few weeks ago, my friend Alyse mentioned something to me that I hadn’t thought about at all. She said, “You know, maybe you’re a...

  • Christmas in BKK

Luke 2:14 – Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace good will towards men. This year, I avoided listening to songs with lyrics like, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” or “I’ll be home for Christmas” or even “Rockin’ around the Christmas tree” because not only did I spend my Christmas away from home, I spent it in 90 degree weather with nothing close to a speck of white snow and a pathetic purple Christmas tree that makes Charl...

  • Storytime with Cwalk (Part 2)

I will start out this blog by listing the reasons that my mother utilizes Facebook. To post incredibly long status updates that she copies out of the daily prayer quote book thing that sits by the toilet in her bathroom. To post pictures of the dog and publicly declare her birthday while posting a profile picture of the poor dog in full birthday garb with the most miserable look on her face. I mean, I know you miss me…but really? To record and post videos of her dancing with the dog to C...

  • Beauty.

beau-ty [n.] – the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations, a meaningful design or pattern, or something else. What is beauty? What makes something beautiful? Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder? What does that even mean??? Why do people put so much emphasis on beauty anyway? Am I beautiful? To me, beauty is a sunset behind the Bangkok cityscape that looks like God Himself painted...

  • BCC – Dance it out.

Hey guys…So here are some videos that I took from the Bangkok Christian College Anniversary Celebration. It was kind of a huge deal, and each department contributed to a school program to show off to the parents, teachers, School Board, alumni, and the rest of the thousands of people who showed up to celebrate a few Saturdays ago. Of course, my babies did a dance to a Michael Jackson medley because the EIP (English Immersion Program) is obviously the best, and I teach the coolest kids at B...

    Chat Chat Chat It Up.

Ok, so the BFF-Madre told me that my lovely father already knows about all my tattoos, so I’m just gonna throw this blog post out there in hopes that a) she’s not joking, b) he’s forgiven me, and c) Jesus smiles at me on days like today. P.S. Shout out to David & Mollie Wiley…yall are gonna love this one! ;) So, I just got home from my usual massage place. I just love those ladies there. They call me “Teacher” because they know that I work at BCC…I m...

    Awake, O Sleeper.

I’ve fallen asleep lately. I’ve just been going through the motions of everyday life, and I feel as though I’ve become numb to everything surrounding me. Perhaps the monotonous tune of the mundane has been lulling me to sleep. It’s like a song stuck on replay, everyday–wake up, work, go home, sleep–of course with an underlying harmony of Skype playing throughout the number. This week, I’ve made a conscious effort to get out of my apartment and actually h...

    BKK Holiday.

Thank God it’s a 4-day holiday. Happy Birthday to the Queen of Thailand…thank you for being born so I can get a couple days off of work. You know, I can admit that my students are slowly convincing me to fall in love with them, but I needed a break. Mid-term progress reports just about killed me! I for sure had to write about all 120 of my students and figure out grades and blah blah blah. Honestly, I’d much prefer to be the student TAKING the mid-terms than the teacher GRADING...
