  • Counting Down.

I’ve always been the Queen of Advice. (I’m also the Queen of Modesty if you haven’t noticed, too. Haha.) I’m just saying…I pride myself in what I have so eloquently dubbed “Blackhole time” with my best friends. That’s when whatever is said under the title of “Blackhole time” remains between whoever is there…it’s like a buffet of drama, issues, and verbal vomit with a side of no judgment or gossiping and amazing advice for de...

  • Living off X’s & O’s

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, ...

  • Things Lately.

Well, I’m pretty sure I’ve officially reached slacker status when it comes to blogging. I sincerely apologize, but my life is absolutely insane this month. I’m doing the whole mid-term thing at work, so I’m having to write 120 progress reports about my students (AKA: Worst paperwork ever.). I’ve been sick a lot this month too for some reason…rumor has it that my “party lifestyle” is catching up with me. Hmm…if you call getting home at 8pm ev...

  • Oh, silly me for thinking…This is Thailand.

Well, here I am at the great CoffeeWorld 24/7 coffee shop. It’s almost progress report time, and I have a mile-high stack of papers to grade, so obviously I would opt to blog first. I mean, duh. That makes perfect sense right? So clearly I’m acclimating to Thai culture quite nicely…allow me to elaborate… Ok, rule #1 about Thailand – If it make sense and reason is involved in any way…it probably won’t work out that way. In fact, the exact opposite of reas...

  • Storytime with Cwalk.

9-13 But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I’ve had a good look at what God has given us to do—busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time—but he’s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he’s coming or going. I’ve decided that there’s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That’s it—eat, drink, and mak...

  • Lighten up, Teacha Christin!

“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”- Psalm 138:8 Wow. I don’t even know how to sum up the past few days. There are literally no words to describe the absolute peace that I feel and the sense of purpose that has completely overwhelmed me. Don’t tell me God doesn’t answer prayer, because my life is most certainly a living testimony to that. So, to all of you who are continually throwin̵...

  • Lucky.

The world always looks brighter from behind a smile.    -Author Unknown << Some of my 6th graders. This week has been unreal, and I’m pretty sure I’m the most blessed person on the planet. Though I was forced to fight through insomnia and my students were absolutely insane all week, I can still say that this has been one of the best weeks I’ve had since I’ve been back, and that’s something to be thankful for. For some strange reason there’s just been ...

  • Glass half shattered.

I’m proud to say that I’ve recently become more of a glass-half-full kinda person. For some strange reason, I’ve woken up smiling over the past few days, and it’s kinda weird…but I like it! This whole optimism thing is a good way to live, and I quite prefer it to the depressingly emo, pessimistic person I’ve been over the past few months. It’s time to start living in the moment, so forget the glass altogether. Depending on what it’s filled with, po...

  • Close your eyes.

It’s pretty unreal how you can read a Bible verse over and over again, and then one day it just clicks. The light bulb illuminates, and all of a sudden it’s as if you see that verse in an entirely new light. What once seemed like mere words on a page, suddenly seems perfectly applicable and appropriate for whatever situation you find yourself in at that very moment. This happened to me the other night, so I have to share it with you. I had just Skyped my parents, and I was in a great...

  • Sick. Social. Smiling.

Well, my immune system is still the same as it’s always been and I’m sick. I’ve successfully made 3 consecutive trips to the hospital/doctor over the past 3 days–1) bloodwork, 2) work permit checkup, and 3) sick-ear/nose/throat doctor visit. After all of that, I can confidently say that I’m clear of all STDs, mental disorders, and leprosy; I’m not an alcoholic; I’m getting over my fear of needles; I have a “common cold”; and the nurses most l...
